Private lease: this is what you pay for the cheapest cars

The cheapest new cars of the moment do not cost much, of course, but you should still be able to cough up something above € 10,000. If that is not an option, private lease may be an alternative. What have you lost at the very least?

A look at the Techzle Private Lease Comparison shows that the Citroën C1 and Peugeot 108 are currently the cheapest cars in private lease. Not surprising, of course, when you consider that these are also the cheapest new cars that you can now buy new. For both the Citroën C1 and its Peugeot brother you will lose at least €199 per month with a private lease. Please note: then you usually conclude a contract for 60 months and you have to stay under 10,000 km on an annual basis, although there is also a provider that sets the maximum number of kilometers for the C1 for that price at 12,000. You will of course get the cheapest version. If you want the most complete version, you will spend at least €253 per month for the Citroën C1 and €245 for the Peugeot 108. Again, it is a 60 months/10,000 km deal. If you want to be stuck with it for a shorter period of time or to be able to cover more kilometres, then it will be more expensive. More details can be found in the Private Lease Comparer.

A step more expensive is the third of those triplets: the Toyota Aygo. You can lease it privately for at least €209 per month. So that saves you a tenner. However, the advantage with the Aygo is that it is offered for that amount with a term of 48 months. The maximum mileage for that amount is also 10,000 km per year.

Even more expensive are the Mitsubishi Space Star, the Kia Picanto and the Hyundai i10. However, those eyes are also a bit fresher than the aging triplets. In fact, the Hyundai i10 has only been with us for two years. The Kia Picanto underwent a facelift last year and the somewhat older Mitsubishi Space Star has also been heavily facelifted quite recently. The Space Star is the cheapest after the C1, 108 and Aygo, with a minimum monthly price of €219. Again, this applies for 60 months and 10,000 km per year. The Kia Picanto follows with €219 per month, for only 48 months, but again with 10,000 km per year as the maximum. The Hyundai i10 is the newest and the most expensive of these three: you can drive it from €229 per month, based on 48 months and 10,000 km per year.

Techzle put the aforementioned Peugeot 108, Mitsubishi Space Star, Kia Picanto and Hyundai i10 next to each other in a comparative test last year. You will find it here.
