Production Renault Clio and Twingo started again

Slowly but surely, car manufacturers are climbing out of the corona valley. Similarly, Renault, which resumes production of the Clio and Twingo.

The two most compact Renaults run off the production line in Slovenian Revoz. Renault had all work stopped there in mid-March because of the outbreak of the corona virus. This week the work will be according to Automotive News Europe however, quietly resumed. About 1,700 of the 3,200 employees in total can return to work. Renault starts with one shift that should make 250 cars a day. Normal production is 750 Renaults per day.

In the coming weeks, production will be scaled up to its old level. By May 11, the factory should be back up to full speed. As with other manufacturers, each employee’s body temperature is measured before entering the factory. Everyone inside wears protective clothing.

The factory has been operating under Renault rule since 1955. Every generation of the Clio has been born here since 1997 and since 2007 Renault has also been building the Twingo. In addition to these Renaults, one other model is also being built: the twin brother of the Twingo, the Smart ForFour. In 2018, the milestone of the 4,000,000th Renault for the factory was reached.
