The Duster will not remain Dacia’s only SUV for long. At the beginning of this year, the brand showed a preview of a big brother of the Duster with the Bigster Concept. Techzle can now show you the production version of that new larger SUV from Dacia from all angles.
In January this year, Dacia conjured up the Bigster Concept from the top hat, a study model with which the brand anticipated the arrival of a second SUV. That new SUV will be a size bigger than the Duster and would be topped with a tougher and more angular design language. Techzle has the patent plates of the production version of the Dacia Bigster managed to emerge.
Dacia Bister Concept (2021)
The production version of the Bigster Concept, of which the final model name is not yet known, is broadly very similar to the concept car presented at the beginning of this year. Yet there are clear differences. For example, the production version of the Bigster Concept does not seem to get LED lighting in its grille. The illuminated areas next to the headlamps appear to become silver elements in the grille on the production version. The segmented light signature of the Bigster Concept seems to make the switch to the production version, incidentally. The same can be said about the lighting at the rear, which is almost identical to that of the study model.
The final production version of the Bigster Concept will have seemingly conventional handles in the front doors. No semi-recessed ones, like the Bigster Concept had. However, the door handles of the rear doors are ‘hidden’, just like the study model. The rear side window is a size smaller on the production version and the striking design element that was behind it in the D-pillar does not reach the production stage. The wheel arches of the production version of the Bigster Concept are also less wide and a size smaller. In the patent drawings we also see different side mirror caps, inserts on the underside of the doors, different shaped roof bars and bumper work decorated with silver instead of black inserts.
The new Dacia visible on these plates may eventually succeed the Lodgy, an MPV currently in the autumn of its career. The new big SUV brother of the Duster will soon be on the CMF-B platform of Groupe Renault, a basis where Dacia is currently already using a version under the new Sandero and Logan. The Bigster Concept was 4.6 meters long, making it about 28 centimeters longer than the Duster. This new SUV may be the first Dacia car to benefit from Renault’s E-Tech hybrid technology. We expect to see more of the new Dacia later this year.
