PSA and Toyota share details of compact electric vans

Groupe PSA and Toyota are preparing the electric versions of their compact vans and passenger vans. The quadruplets will appear towards the end of 2021.

Groupe PSA and Toyota have been active in the van and passenger bus market for many years. There are also electric variants of the medium-sized Citroën Jumpy, Peugeot Expert, Opel Vivaro and Toyota Proace. Next year, their more compact brothers will also be equipped with an electric powertrain. The van versions are named Citroën ë-Berlingo Van, Peugeot e-Partner, Opel Combo-e and Toyota Proace City Electric. The passenger versions are called Citroën ë-Berlingo, Peugeot e-Rifter, Opel e-Combo Life and Toyota Proace City Verso Electric. PSA and Toyota now share the first details of that.

As we are used to from Groupe PSA, a 136 hp electric motor is spooned into it. The same power source used in many PSA electric models. In this case, it will be linked to a water-cooled 50 kWh battery pack. The compact vans can be recharged with a 7.4 kW single-phase on-board charger or an 11 kW three-phase charger. In the case of the Toyota Proace City Electric, the three-phase charger is supplied as standard here in the Netherlands. Whether this also applies to the PSA triplets is not yet clear. The expected range is also not yet reported. After all, it will also take a while before the practical guys are on the market, they are aiming for a market introduction in the autumn of 2021. Prices and more extensive specifications will follow before then.
