Groupe PSA has been awarded the ‘International Van Of The Year’ award for the Peugeot e-Expert, Citroën ë-Jumpy and Opel / Vauxhall Vivaro-e. According to the jury, PSA’s three (or actually four) company cars give a ‘huge boost to electric mobility in the workplace’.
The jury awarded the IVOTY prize to PSA because the electric commercial vehicle family “sets new standards and contributes to progress”. It was particularly important to the jury that the electric powertrain did not have to compromise on payload and volume. Furthermore, according to the jury, the driving experience is not inferior to that of the variants on diesel. All in all, the jury concludes that, partly thanks to these vans, PSA gives an enormous boost to the growth of electric mobility in the workplace. It is the first time that the IVOTY prize is awarded to electric vans.
It is not surprising that all three or four vans receive the prize. After all, they are all on the same chassis and share the 136 hp and 260 Nm strong electric motor from PSA. The available battery capacity is also the same for all four brands: 50 or 75 kWh. With the 75 kWh battery pack, a theoretical range of 330 kilometers is possible in all these models. The smaller battery saves 100 kilometers from here. In its judgment, the jury mainly focused on the progressive nature of the vans, because in terms of functionality you do sacrifice something. The maximum towing weight, for example, is 1,000 kilos, while the diesels are allowed to pull up to 2,500 kilos.
Do you miss the Toyota Proace Electric in this list? We understand that, since Toyota is working with the French for the Proace. Toyota is out of the prizes, however, as the Proace Electric is actually a PSA product. For that reason, the price will probably only go to PSA and to its own models, since PSA developed and builds the cars.
