Pickups are “big business” in the US and a significant portion of customers are from Texas. To put that group in the spotlight, Ram comes with the Laramie Southwest Edition.
Special Editions aren’t exactly a rarity in the country of pickup trucks, where the Ford, Chevrolet, GMC and Ram brands compete for the favor of a giant American buyer group. The latest edition of the Ram 1500 proves to be a bull’s eye in the US and is available in many versions.
The Southwest Edition is now being added to that list especially for Texas and the bordering states of New Mexico, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Louisiana. The Southwest Edition is strikingly decorated for a pick-up truck. As with the Laramie Sport, most of the chrome is in body color, although the slats of the grille in this case do have a chrome layer. The towing eyes and decorative strips on the flanks are also chromed, which creates a nice interplay with the polished 20-inch wheels. At the rear it is noticeable that the elements in the taillights, sometimes painted in body color, are now simply red.
Inside, the Southwest is packed with luxury. Of course, the large, vertical 12-inch touchscreen is present, but this version also includes a range of safety systems and a panoramic roof. The brown / beige color combination of the one shown can count on our approval. The Southwest is available with two different cab lengths, two different body lengths and all available engines.
This is not the first time that Ram comes with a special version for Texans, because previously there was also a Lone Star Edition. For the Netherlands, the Ram is more important than you might think, because many entrepreneurs like to use the tax benefits attached to this tough American.
