Ram is busy testing with a pick-up that is a bit smaller than the well-known 1500. With this, Ram seems to be aiming for the Ford Ranger, possibly also with an electric drive.

Our spy photographer on the other side of the large herring pond has photographed a new Ram pick-up that is a size smaller than the Ram 1500. Despite the camouflage, you can already see that the newcomer has a front that is somewhat reminiscent of that of its large brother and the proportions of the rest of the pickup are quite classic. It really seems to be a somewhat shrunken 1500, although technically there is probably very little relationship.

This is reportedly a new pickup on Stellantis’ STLA Large platform, which should also be suitable for electric powertrains. Earlier it hinted that there may be a smaller electric pick-up under the electric Ram 1500 REV and that could well be a variant of the pick-up that we have in front of us here. However, this copy still has a fuel engine.

Ram is probably mainly targeting the South American market with the pick-up that may be called Rampage or Dakota. There it will be above the 700 and 1000, pick-ups from Fiat in a Ram version. In the United States and also here in Europe, however, there would also be a market for such a Ford Ranger competitor, certainly with an electric drive, so who knows.
