Rara, where in the world is a simple middle class the most expensive? Hint: The Netherlands is high

Rara, where in the world is a simple middle class the most expensive? Hint: The Netherlands is high

A British comparison site has conducted a study: how much does a Volkswagen Golf cost in different countries in the world? The reason that the site has chosen the Golf as an example is simple: the German middle class is sold in many countries. This is in contrast to, for example, an Opel Astra or Peugeot 308.

Volkswagen Golf in Singapore almost four times more expensive

The most expensive country in the world to buy a Golf is Singapore, where the C-segment hatchback costs the equivalent of no less than 118,795 euros. Singapore is a city-state where the number of cars on the road is strictly regulated. If one comes in, one has to go. In addition, residents must apply for a permit to buy a car.

The Netherlands is expensive, but is ‘only’ in fifth place

At an appropriate distance from Singapore, Denmark (38,448 euros), South Africa (37,818 euros), Norway (36,385 euros) and then the Netherlands (32,490 euros). The contrast with the cheapest countries is great. In the United States, for example, a Volkswagen Golf costs only 20,435 euros. Closer to home, a copy in Poland and Slovakia is not much more expensive (20,510 and 21,290 euros respectively).
