Apple has officially announced the HomeView as the new central device for your smart home. The product must work with Apple Intelligence and the updated Siri AI, allowing you to control your smart home in a natural way. However, there is bad news for Dutch and Belgian users: Apple will not release the HomeView within the European Union for the time being.
The Apple Home Collection, a series of smart accessories such as a video doorbell, door lock, thermostat and security camera, is also not coming to Europe for the time being. Apple has not mentioned a release date and also leaves it unclear whether these products will become available later. The EU therefore misses an important part of Apple’s new smart home strategy.
Why the HomeView does not appear in the EU
The main reason is Siri AI. The HomeView relies heavily on this new artificial intelligence-based version of Siri. An iPhone with Siri AI is required for this new device. Siri AI is not yet available in the European Union, because Apple and the European Commission do not agree on the regulations that the function must comply with.

Without Siri AI, the HomeView would not be able to do what the product was designed for, according to Apple. That is why the company has chosen not to release the HomeView in Europe at all for the time being. There is no release date, and as long as there is no agreement on Siri AI, a European launch does not seem imminent. Apple indicates that it is in constructive discussions with the EU to find a solution.
Apple Home Collection
Apple, together with LG Electronics and Schneider Electric, is introducing a new Apple Home collection with smart cameras, a video doorbell, a door lock, thermostats and temperature and humidity sensors. Designed for easy one-tap installation on an iPhone, the accessories work directly from the Home app and with Siri, without an additional app or account. The cameras offer 2.5K video, person and package detection, color night vision and storage of up to ten days via iCloud+. The smart door lock supports Ultra Wideband, Matter and Aliro, while the thermostats can automatically adjust the temperature based on presence and energy prices.

All devices support Thread and can largely continue to work locally, even when the WiFi or internet connection is lost. Apple emphasizes privacy: home data and camera images are processed encrypted and are not accessible to Apple, LG or Schneider Electric. The collection will be released in December in the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom, with select products available in early 2027. Prices start at $39.95 for a temperature sensor, $199.95 for an indoor camera or thermostat and $249.95 for the video doorbell.
Not available in the EU for the time being
The Apple Home Collection has a different problem. According to current information, these accessories do not work directly with Siri AI, but Apple is not bringing them to the EU anyway. The company has not explained why this is the case, but it is probably due to exclusive Siri AI functions in the Home app that support the devices as standard and make them ‘special’.
Until these features work in the EU, the collection may not appear here. Apple has not confirmed whether these accessories will come to the Netherlands and Belgium later. For the time being, you have to assume that the entire Apple Home collection remains out of reach.
