Bad news if you are used to charging your electric car at Allego stations, the operator will increase its prices from September 1st.
A significant price increase in Allego charging stations is to be expected from the start of the school year. An increase that concerns almost all European countries and France is unfortunately one of them.
Allego passes on rising energy prices
Founded in 2013 in the Netherlands, Allego has become a major player in electric charging stations in Europe. Four years ago, we were already telling you about the establishment of its Super-E charging network on the old continent. However, Allego has only been established in France since the beginning of the year.
You may know this name from the company’s charging stations in the car parks of Carrefour and Géant Casino stores. Allego already offers charging powers of up to 300 kW and expects to have a fleet of more than 2,000 charging stations installed by 2023.
To cope with the increase in energy prices, in this case electricity, Allego is announcing an increase in its prices, as its competitors such as Ionity, Tesla and TotalEnergies have already done. A substantial increase that will take effect from September 1, 2022.
Skyrocketing prices
Thus, an ordinary recharging in alternating current at a power of 22 kW will now cost you 0.50 €/kWh, against 0.40 €/kWh previously (+0.10 €/kWh). Direct current fast charging at a power of 50 kW undergoes a greater increase of €0.14/kWh, going from €0.55/kWh to €0.69/kWh. Ultra-fast DC charging that exceeds 50 kW also increases by €0.14/kWh, from €0.65/kWh to €0.79/kWh.
As a percentage increase, this represents a 20% increase for ordinary and fast charging and almost 18% for ultra-fast charging. Allego specifies that these prices are those including VAT. They may differ depending on the offers offered by the different partner brands.
A rise in the price of electricity which should fuel the debates around the advantages of this type of vehicle compared to thermal cars, the new models of which will be banned in Europe from 2035.
