Record number of reports for car recovery companies

15 percent more than last year

Record number of reports for car recovery companies

Car recovery companies have had a particularly busy period. In the second quarter of this year, more salvage orders were carried out than ever before.

After a dip in the traffic on the road in the corona years, the traffic is back to normal. In fact, from the number of orders that car recovery companies received in the past quarter, you could conclude that it is busier than ever. Salvagers have never been called up so often. According to Stichting Incident Management Nederland, 39,473 orders were received in the second quarter of 2023. A growth of 15 percent compared to Q2 in 2022 and the highest number ever.

The lion’s share of the reports concerned cars that had broken down along the road; 32,587, no less than 17 percent more than in 2022. The number of accident recovery operations also increased. That increased by 8 percent to 6,263. According to Stichting IMN, the number of recovery operations due to an accident was almost at the record level of 2019.

Fast recovery

It is of course good news for the employment of the recovery companies and there is more good news around the arrival time. Despite the crowds, it has remained at an average of about 12 minutes. There is an honorable mention for the company Collewijn from Nuis in Drenthe. That company had the lowest average arrival time of 116 reports with 5 minutes and 59 seconds. Transport company A. Barendregt from Rhoon in South Holland also deserves kudos: recovery companies from that company had to process no fewer than 3,378 reports and, with an average arrival time of 6 minutes and 51 seconds, came in second place among the fastest recovery companies.
