Do you think the voices that help you navigate with Waze could be a bit better? Then the app now lets you record your own voice instructions.
It is now possible to record Waze voice instructions
Navigation app Waze already had a large list of voices, but it is of course a lot more fun if your partner, child or good friend accompanies you along the way. Before you start recording, the app does warn you that you need to be clear to ensure rider safety. Jokingly saying ‘Left’ if someone has to turn right can have disastrous consequences.
It works like this. By first giving your voice package a name, you can then read out the various instructions one by one. ‘Everything set. Let’s go.’ for example, a recording that can last up to six seconds.
This way you can record Waze voice instructions yourself
- Open Waze and tap the magnifying glass;
- Choose the gear to open the settings;
- Tap on ‘Sound & Voice’;
- Select ‘Voting instructions’;
- Under the heading ‘Voice Recorder’, tap ‘Record New Voice’;
- Follow the on-screen instructions and tap Save when done;
In this way, all kinds of instructions that you need on the way pass by. Instructions, distances, notifications and the start and end of your ride. Any sentence you don’t record will be replaced by a standard recording.
This is especially useful if you only want to record a few specific instructions. The nice thing about this feature is that you can easily share the recordings with others. To further exploit this, the app is said to have partnered with a number of YouTubers.
