The Consumers’ Association has ordered online store Refurbished.nl to immediately stop selling products, due to many complaints and non-payment of office rent.

According to the Consumers’ Association, customers of Refurbished.nl have been complaining for months Radar about ordered products that they do not receive. In addition, complaints are made about poorly accessible customer service and not receiving money for returns. At the Consumers Association more than 100 complaints were received. Customers on Trustpilot are also very negative about the company. Of the 545 customers who rated Refurbished.nl, no fewer than 523 customers gave 1 or 2 stars.

According to Radar, the director of Refurbished.nl, Joost Angelier, has admitted that not everything goes smoothly. He is also said to have promised that everything should be resolved in about three weeks.

Summary proceedings and investigation after persistent complaints

The owner of the office building where Refurbished.nl is located now has one summary proceedings filed due to rent arrears of 20,000 euros. And the judge has now decided that the company must leave the building. The office must be vacated within seven days. Refurbished.nl must pay the rent arrears including interest, contractual fines and the extrajudicial collection costs.

In the meantime, the police and the Consumer and Markets Authority (ACM) are also investigating the company, because the complaints continue to persist. In Belgium, Refurbished.nl has previously been taken offline by the authorities.
