Reminisce in Google Photos

Google Photos Memories presents you with photos from your own archive. A nice birthday from three years ago or that beautiful walk from six years ago that you had completely forgotten.

Take a journey through your own past with Google Photos Memories. At the top of the Photos app are snaps from previous years, photos from the past few weeks, or themed memories such as places visited or birthdays. Decide for yourself what kind of memory comes to mind. People only see Reminders when the feature is on. Check that like this:

  • Open the Google Photos app on the mobile device.
  • Tap your account profile picture or initials in the top right.
  • Tap on Settings for Photos.
  • Tap on Memories.
  • Tap on Featured Memories.
  • Tap the slider behind the reminders you want to see: Previous Years, New Highlights, and Themed Memories. If the slider turns blue, the function is on.
  • Tap the left arrow three times to return to the photo overview.

Once Reminders are set, a selection of your photos will appear at the top of the app. Every day there are different photos here.

  • Open Google Photos.
  • Tap at the bottom photos.
  • Tap a reminder at the top.
  • Tap the left or right side of the screen to go to the previous or next photo.
  • Swipe left or right to go to the next or previous reminder.
  • Tap and hold the photo on the screen to view a photo for longer.
  • Seen a photo of a nice moment? Then view all photos from the same day.
    • Tap the three dots at the bottom right.
    • Tap on View all photos of this day.

Do you want to share the photo?

  • Open Google Photos.
  • Tap at the bottom photos.
  • Tap a reminder at the top.
  • Nice picture? Tap the ‘Share’ icon.
  • Tap on More.
  • Choose a sharing method and follow the steps shown.
