Remove folder from Gmail

delete folder in gmail(1)

Remove unnecessary folders from Gmail and keep more overview in your mail account.

Keep the mailbox tidy and check every now and then whether all created labels, such as the folders in Gmail, are still needed. Removing a label is very quick. All mails from a deleted label are no longer in the Inbox, but they have not disappeared.

  • surf to www.gmail.com and log in.
  • Move the mouse pointer over the menu on the left of the screen, below the plus sign.
  • The part with all labels expands. In older versions of Gmail, this is shown by default. You may immediately see all labels already listed.
  • Hover over the label you want to remove.
  • A button with three dots will appear to the right of the name. Click on that.
  • Click in the menu on Remove label > remove.

The label is immediately gone. The mails from the folder also seem to be gone. In any case, they are no longer in the Inbox. But they have not been erased. Hover over the menu on the left again and click on the label All mail. There you will find all emails.
