Renault 4 back once as Suite N°4

Renault 4 back once as Suite N°4

The Renault 4 is 60 years old this year and that should be celebrated. Renault does this in its own way by conjuring the Suite N°4 out of the top hat.

Renault does have a thing for mobile sleeping places. Earlier this year, the brand introduced the Hippie Caviar Hotel, a show car based on the Trafic with a quirky interior and seating on the roof. This time, Renault comes with the Suite N°4, a show car designed by the French industrial designer Mathieu Lehanneur based on the Renault 4 in which you can also spend the night.

According to its creators, the Renault Suite N°4 is a tribute to the R4, Renault’s response to cars such as the Citroën 2CV, presented in 1961. The Suite N°4 has an optically open back that consists of transparent plastic panels. The roof of Suite N°4 is covered with transparent solar panels and serves, among other things, to charge the battery pack. Indeed, the Renault Suite N°4 does not have a small four-cylinder, but an electric powertrain. The stubborn show car has a closed grille of crumpled aluminum while the paint of the Suite N°4 gives the car a concrete-like appearance.

According to Renault, the interior is finished with yellow velvet, although things like the back of the seats are covered with a coarser fabric. At the bottom of the rear we see a drawer that, according to Renault, can be somewhat sheltered when the tailgate is open.

New Renault 4

The how and why of this Suite N°4 is easy to explain. The Renault 4 is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year and the French seem to want to bring that car to the attention again before coming up with a modern incarnation of the primal-4 in the long run. Renault is not only coming with an electric reborn 5, but also with an EV that it has called 4ever. We were able to show you the Renault 4ever from all angles on a patent image earlier. The 4ever will probably only come on the market after the electric 5, which in turn is on the roll before 2024.
