Sandero with mood lighting

Renault will soon unveil a new, affordable hatchback for growth markets, the Renault Kardian. The inside of that car appears to have a lot of similarities with the interior of a Dacia Sandero, and that is no coincidence.
The Renault Kardian has already appeared on patent plates and teasers. From this we could deduce that it is a raised hatchback based on the Dacia Sandero (Stepway), but not quite. Unlike what previously happened in such cases, Renault is not satisfied with simply replacing the logos. The complete nose of the car is different and that also applies to the rear lights, the bumpers and… the interior.
At least, to a certain extent. Based on what we see now, the interior of the Kardian, here on a still obscure plate, shares few parts directly with a Sandero. At the same time, it is clear that the layout of the dashboard is similar, which means that this also applies to the underlying technology. The ventilation grilles are in the same place, we recognize the round knobs for the climate control from somewhere and the touchscreen is placed high on the dashboard, just like on the Sandero, but at the same time most parts look slightly different. Especially chic, which is literally underlined by the mood lighting, which a Sandero does not have. Another important difference: the Kardian has a small, computer-controlled ‘shift-by-wire’ automatic transmission instead of a mechanical shifter.

The Renault Kardian will be unveiled in Rio de Janeiro on October 25. The car should also shine in that region of the world, although we also expect it in countries outside South America. One thing is certain: the Kardian will not come to Europe.
