In the middle of this year, Renault’s HYVIA released the first information about the Master H2-Tech. Today, Renault is releasing more information about a specific body style, the Renault Master Van H2-Tech, which will hit the market next year.
Hyvia is a partnership between Renault and Plug Power, a company that specializes in hydrogen and its application. Earlier this year, Hyvia announced the arrival of various variants of the Master with a fuel cell on board. Not only would there be a Master Chassis Cab as ‘H2-Tech’, but also a Master Citybus H2-Tech and a Master Van H2-Tech. That Master Van variant is the closed delivery version of the Master and it is that body variant of the commercial vehicle of which Renault now highlights and outlines the hydrogen version.
Renault reports that the Master Van H2-Tech will be launched next year. Depending on the version chosen, it offers up to 12 cubic meters of cargo space. The Master Van H2-Tech will have a 33 kWh battery that you can charge via a plug. In addition, the Master Van H2-Tech has four 6-kilo hydrogen tanks on board that appear to have a place in the raised roof. Renault promises a range of up to 500 kilometers, but does not yet say how strong the electric motor is.
The French are very proud of the fact that not only is the Master built in France, but also that most of the powertrain of the hydrogen versions comes from their home country. For example, the Master Van rolls off the production line in Batilly, the electric motor is built in Cléon, the hydrogen tanks come from the French supplier Faurecia and the fuel cells are assembled in Flins.
Hyvia is also coming up with its own hydrogen filling stations, small filling points that the company wants to sell, but which can also be rented and leased. Renault also builds these stations in Flins. As mentioned, it does not stop at the Renault Master Van H2-Tech. There will also be a Chassis Cab version with a loading volume of 19 cubic meters and a Citybus variant that is suitable for passenger transport. The Chassis Cab must be able to reach a range of 250 kilometers, the Citybus, which can accommodate up to fifteen passengers, must be able to cover about 300 kilometers.
