Renault Mégane Estate can stay for a while, but will become more expensive

It has now been running for almost eight years, but the Renault Mégane Estate may at least last part of 2024. As of this year, the practical Mégane Estate has become slightly more expensive. AutoWeek can report this after a look at the price list.

The Renault family currently contains two models that are very similar in name, but differ down to the smallest detail. We are talking about the Mégane Estate and the Megane E-Tech Electric. The first is still a traditional C-segment car as you knew it before the massive rise of electric models. The second – without accent aigu on the e – is an electric crossover. The Mégane Estate is the only remnant of the traditional Mégane family, which until 2021 also consisted of a hatchback in the Netherlands and a sedan version elsewhere in the world. The once extensive delivery range of the Renault Mégane Estate was stripped down in August last year. The TCe 160 disappeared and the plug-in hybrid powertrain was also cut from the range together with the manual transmissions. What remained: a 140 hp 1.3 TCe that is always connected to an EDC automatic transmission. The Renault Mégane Estate will remain available with that powertrain for a while. However, it has become more expensive from this year onwards.

Until recently you paid at least €34,535 for the Mégane Estate with a 140 hp petrol engine. For that amount you drove the Equilibre version. That remains the entry-level car, but it will become €1,155 more expensive and is now on the order books for €35,690. The only other version – Techno – also survives the New Year. It will also become €1,155 more expensive and will now change hands for €38,490. It swallows 521 liters of luggage.

Equipment

As an Equilibre, the Renault Mégane Estate has, among other things, climate control with two zones, parking sensors front and rear, electrically adjustable and heated exterior mirrors, electrically operated side windows front and rear, automatic wipers and automatic lighting. Also standard: cruise control, LED headlights and an infotainment system that supports both Android Auto and Apple Carplay, complete with 7-inch screen. The Techno version adds, among other things, a multimedia system with navigation and a larger 9.3-inch screen, as well as wireless Apple CarPlay connectivity, a more extensive audio system, follow-me-home lighting, a frameless automatically dimming interior mirror, a reversing camera and safety systems such as lane departure warning, traffic sign recognition and an emergency braking system. Also included are mood lighting, a larger color screen in the instrument cluster, Renault Multi-Sense, 17-inch alloy wheels, privacy glass, a chrome-colored grille, a shark fin antenna, nicer interior upholstery, a leather-covered gear knob and a rear seat that can be folded at the push of a button. can be folded down, until the Techno party.

The Renault Mégane Estate was presented at the beginning of 2016 and is now eight years old. We don’t expect it to be available for much longer.
