Luca de Meo has only just taken the helm at Renault, but the new CEO is already overhauling things. He does this by means of a restructuring plan. More has now become known about that plan.
At Groupe Renault, things are anything but perfect financially and that is why Luca de Meo wants to ensure that the focus is shifted from a quest for volume to a quest for value and profitability. To this end, the brands of the group must adopt a more targeted approach. De Meo therefore chooses to put all sub-brands within the Groupe Renault on their own feet. “An organization around four brands should make it easier to get started in a more market and customer-oriented way in order to look for the best possible result.”
Although proverbial dark clouds came to hang over the sporty Alpine, De Meo already indicated that the brand does not have to worry. This is confirmed with the new plans for the reorganization. Alpine is simply included in this. Renault, Dacia, Alpine and ‘new mobilities’ will be the new main groups within Groupe Renault. Luca de Meo will remain primarily responsible at Renault, Denis le Vot will be in charge of Dacia and at Alpine Cyril Abiteboul (known as Renault’s F1 team boss) takes care of everything. Former CEO of Renault Clotilde Delbos is engaged in the development of new mobilities.
The branches that in the current composition of the company from now on fall within all these new four main groups will be included in the restructuring. The definitive plan including an action plan will be presented to the employee participation bodies shortly.
