One of the absolute trendsetters of the Toyota family was presented in a new form at the beginning of this year: the Toyota GR Yaris. Good news for those who were deeply charmed by it: the updated Toyota GR Yaris will also come to the Netherlands later this year.
Toyota’s GR model series, which consists of the GR86 and GR Supra in the Netherlands, was supplemented in 2020 with the GR Yaris. That Toyota GR Yaris was the only three-door variant of the Yaris in Europe, but not just any. The GR Yaris had a thoroughly developed body, heavy spoiler work but above all an unusual drivetrain. A 261 hp and 360 Nm strong 1.6 three-cylinder engine was hidden in the nose, a machine that distributed its power to all four wheels via a six-speed manual gearbox. In January, the GR Yaris was presented in both optical and technical form. We can reassure anyone who fears that the Dutch importer will soon cut the GR Yaris from the delivery range. The updated Toyota GR Yaris is also coming to the Netherlands and that will happen this year, according to inquiries from the Dutch importer.
What will the facelifted GR Yaris cost in the Netherlands? We do not know yet. It is known that the Toyota GR Yaris has been seriously overhauled. The hot-tempered hatchback gets a new rear light, a new front and even an almost completely new interior. The GR Yaris has also been further refined on a technical level. The 1.6 will get more power and will soon deliver 280 hp and 390 Nm to all four wheels. From now on, those forces no longer necessarily go through a six-speed manual transmission, but if desired also through an eight-speed automatic transmission.
