Just be patient for a little while longer
For several decades, the Volkswagen Golf has been one of the most important pillars on which the Volkswagen empire rests. Volkswagen will soon bring the facelifted Golf onto the stage, but before then, design boss Andreas Mindt will show the updated Golf through a set of sketches. We see a lot of that, but it still feels like mustard after the meal.
It has been more than four years since Volkswagen presented the current generation of the Golf. Unlike its predecessor, the eighth generation Volkswagen Golf is no longer available as an electric e-Golf, but despite the increasing role that EVs are assigned by car manufacturers, the Golf remains a relevant model for Volkswagen. It is all the more striking that the brand waits no less than four years to facelift the model. However, the updated Volkswagen Golf will not be long in coming. At the end of last year, Volkswagen released the first shadowy teaser image of the facelifted Golf and during the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas it even conjured up a facelifted Golf GTI that had only been covered in a tight sticker sheet. Now it is the Volkswagen design boss who shows sketches of the updated Golf via social channels.
Although the sketches of the updated Volkswagen Golf give away quite a bit, we are actually none the wiser. How does that happen? For the simple reason that an extensive photo series of the facelifted Golf already appeared online last week. Although the appearance and interior of the updated Golf no longer hold any secrets, it is not yet entirely clear what the additional session will bring on a technical level. We know that Volkswagen is giving the Golf the latest generation of its infotainment screens and that it is again using physical buttons on the steering wheel. In any case, the GTI and the plug-in hybrid eHybrid flavors will also return to the range. There will also soon be a Golf R, the absolute top version of the Golf. More coming soon!
The Volkswagen Golf was good for 3,011 registrations in the Netherlands last year. About 300 more units of the ID3 were delivered and the Up (4,413 units), ID4 (4,273) and especially the Polo (7,243 units) also performed better in our country.
