Research on early cells

Little research has been done on what happens in the first 14 days of pregnancy. Scientists therefore want to examine embryos. The results could give hope to couples who are unable to have children.

Before life begins, many things can go wrong. Sometimes none of the sperm manages to penetrate the egg. But even if this succeeds, it is still no guarantee for the beginning of a pregnancy. Presumably not even every fourth fertilization leads to a birth. This is not a problem for many couples – sooner or later it will work out and the desire to have children will be fulfilled.
