Reset Microsoft Store on Windows 10 and 11: that’s how it works

The Microsoft Store is a great environment to get apps and games from. But sometimes it happens that the digital store goes wrong. Those problems show – if all is well – like snow in the sun with the tips from this article. This is how you reset the Microsoft Store.

You can easily reset the Microsoft Store via the Institutions† Open Settings with the shortcut Windows key and the letter i and press apps† Go to Apps & Features and find the Microsoft Store in the list. On Windows 11, click on the three dots on the right and press Advanced settings† Windows 10 users will see that button right under the name of the app.

On the next page scroll to the heading Reset† First press To recover to find out if that solves the problems. If not, press Reset

Reset Microsoft Store via Command Prompt

You should no longer have any problems. If that is still the case, we can still clear the cache of the Microsoft Store. This is done via the Command Prompt. To do this, you proceed as follows; we take you through all the steps of this process.

  • First press Windows key + R to open the window To carry out
  • Tap now cmd to open Command Prompt
  • (You can also choose to open Start and type Command Prompt; right-click the app by Run as administrator to select)
  • In the Command Prompt, type the following command: WSReset.exe
  • Now press Enter to continue
  • Windows will now get to work and take a moment to clear the cache; so wait for the process to complete

After completing that process, the tool will close itself and Windows will launch the Microsoft Store automatically. You should now have no more problems and you can download or update an app, just like you could before.

If you still run into problems after this, the solution may be less simple. In that case, contact Microsoft customer service or the manufacturer of the computer you are using. They can almost always help you in special cases.
