A nice day for fans of kei-cars. Perhaps the nicest of the bunch has been given a second generation. Honda has released the first photos of the new N-One.
Honda added the N-One to its Japanese delivery range in 2012, a kei-car whose appearance was laced with design elements from the N360 that the brand delivered between 1969 and 1972. The N-One was later joined by a series of brothers and sisters. For example, the Life was replaced a year later by the N-WGN and a year before the launch of the N-One, Honda already introduced the N-Box, a narrow and high kei-car that in 2014 in the form of the N- Box Slash got a real ‘coupé version’. In addition, the Japanese have had the N-Van on the menu since 2018. The N-Boxes N-WGN were replaced in 2017 and 2019 respectively and now the now eight-year-old N-One is also ready for a completely new, second generation.
Honda is still keeping extensive specifications under its cap. The brand does show a few photos of the new retro field. In terms of design, Honda remains faithful to the design of the version presented in 2012. The new N-One also has cheerful, round viewers, a black ‘mask’ in between and small vertically oriented rectangular rear lights. This lighting is now slightly different in shape and equipped with LED technology, while the fog lamps at the front are now rectangular instead of round. Honda will soon supply the N-One as Standard, Premium and RS. The bumper work differs per version. The interior has also been addressed. For example, the vertical ventilation grilles from the center console move to the sides of the dashboard. Pontifically in the center of the cockpit, Honda places a somewhat loosely protruding screen from the interior that belongs to the infotainment system. You can no longer order a front seat, the kei-car now has separate seats in the front as standard.

In terms of safety features, the N-One benefits, among other things, from the arrival of an automatic braking system that recognizes both pedestrians and cyclists. Adaptive cruise control, traffic sign recognition and automatic high beam are available as options. It is not yet known which engines Honda supplies, but you can count on the machines having a capacity of 660c c and are available with and without turbo. Aim for outputs of 58 and 64 hp. As before, the N-One will soon be equipped with both front and four-wheel drive. The N-One had its best sales year in Japan in 2013, the car’s first full year of production. Then more than 105,000 copies rolled out of the showroom.
