When you think of outdoor cameras you often think of large(r) models, but the Foscam V8P is ‘only’ 170 x 66 x 66 mm and weighs 346 grams. This camera has a resolution of 8 MP (3840 x 2160 pixels), offers 4K images and has the following viewing angles: diagonal 108.5°, horizontal 90.1° and vertical 46.2°.
Install and connect
It is nice that this security camera has dual-band WiFi, so the internet connection is via the 2.4GHz or 5GHz network. First of all, this is an advantage when installing the V8P: within a few minutes I had it working properly via the Foscam app. In addition, dual-band also gives you a better connection for transmitting signal and images. Installing the V8P outdoors (the housing is IP66 certified!) is simple with the supplied screws/plugs.
Good quality
Of course, the quality of the images is important and it is really good and sharp. In addition, the V8P has 4 bright LED lights that shine a spotlight on unwanted visitors and a siren that can sound up to 95 dB. Add to that the person and vehicle detection, the built-in microphone and speaker (two-way audio) and night vision up to 20 meters and you have a good surveillance system for your home or whatever you want to monitor. Images can be stored on a micro SD card (max. 256 GB), Foscam Cloud, or via local and FTP storage.
