Anyone who wants to record or stream images of an HDMI device can use the AC7600 for this. Additional drivers are not necessary, because systems with Windows and macOS immediately recognize the device. So it’s a matter of Plug & Play. This product is useful for people who want to publish a live stream on YouTube, Twitch or other video platform.

Connect

The AC7600 is located between the computer and the intended HDMI device. Logically, the housing has various inputs and outputs for this. You connect a video camera or game computer to the HDMI input. In addition, there are two 3.5 mm inputs for a microphone and audio device. The outputs are on the other side. Connect a laptop or PC via the USB-C port. Finally, there is also an HDMI output. You connect a PC monitor or television to this, after which you can follow the live stream on a large screen. ACT supplies the required cables for linking an HDMI device and computer. With a successful connection, a green light will burn on top of the housing. If the connection fails, the LED lamp turns red.

Image quality

It is favorable that the recording device can process input signals up to a resolution of 3840 × 2160 pixels (4K). The maximum renewal frequency is 60 Hertz. While registering the image signal on the computer, the video science remains virtually intact. Only the renewal frequency when recording 4K images is slightly lower with 30 Hertz. In practice, the AC7600 sees the video signal of, for example, a PlayStation 5 effortlessly to a PC or laptop. Moving images appear fluently on the computer screen, so that you can capture the (live) video in a suitable recording program.

Conclusion

The ACT AC7600 is a great tool to stream or absorb the image of an HDMI source in 4K quality. The suggested retail price of 152.50 euros is strong.
