The KNMI app has been around for a while, but has recently been thoroughly overhauled. The makers themselves indicate that climate change increasingly causes weather extremes and the way of warning by the app has therefore been adjusted (www.knmi.nl/over-het-knmi/nieuws/nieuwe-knmi app).

In addition to the trusted predictions for the specific region, the makers have reviewed the warnings. The app advises how you prepare for dangerous weather. In dangerous weather you not only have to think of heavy wind or rainfall, but now also reports for earthquakes in the Netherlands. If you have installed the app, it can also warn you of the specific region in which you are in dangerous weather.

The app now has an overview of the Netherlands where you are where weather codes (such as code red or yellow) apply. The weather maps are not only equipped with the predictions of the KNMI itself, but now also offer room for measurements that have been done by users. You can also view graphs with information about precipitation, temperature and wind at hour level. On the main page we find the section My weather. Here you indicate which regions you want to see again.

At the time of writing, the app is available in Dutch and an English variant is being worked on. The makers indicate that they want to add more languages in the future.
