The new series of Ring Spotlight Pro security cameras consists of four models, the ‘Battery’ of which we test with a rechargeable 5800mAh battery.
Aad Munsterman and Rob Coenraads

This camera is available in black and white, measures 8 x 7.8 x 14.5 cm, has a lens with 140°H/80°V image, a motion detector up to about 9 meters, microphones with noise reduction, IR lighting for night lighting and a spotlight on each side with warm white light and a speaker on the bottom.
In addition to standard 1080p HD live view, two-way talk, advanced motion detection, customizable motion zones and privacy settings, color night vision and an easy-to-use app, it now features 3D motion detection with radar technology, bird’s eye view, Audio+ for enhanced audio, HDR video, and dual band wifi.
The camera has no internal storage for image information. Without a subscription you only have motion-activated notifications and live image. The Basic package includes 1 device and costs € 40 per year and the Plus version is for an unlimited number of cameras and costs € 100 per year. With both you get 180 days of storage and additional functionality, the Plus offers additional services. Installing is easy; both the live and recorded image look good, HDR slightly improves contrast and sharpness and there’s clear sound. A siren can be activated if necessary, and it is handy that motion reports can be forwarded to a Ring gong.
It is a solid camera with a lot of functionality and image storage in the cloud that requires a subscription, without a subscription it is a luxury motion detector. We expect a lower purchase price for a camera that requires a subscription.
