Introduction
Samsung has launched two new 1TB MicroSD cards as part of the PRO Plus and EVO Plus families. The EVO Plus, available in 128GB to 1TB, is ideal for reliable everyday storage for photos and videos and the Pro Plus, 64GB to 1TB, for 4K UHD videos and fast media transfers. The cards use the 8e generation of V-NAND technology with improved performance and increased reliability. We tested the 1TB Pro Plus, which is the fastest variant.
Technology
The new controller ensures that the 1TB cards are more economical, which means they use slightly less energy. In combination with the V-NAND technology, under controlled conditions, the 1TB card can achieve read/write speeds of up to 180/130MBps for the PRO Plus and 160/120MBps for the EVO Plus. In a test PC with SD card slot, we achieved read/write speeds for the Pro Plus of net 97/90MBps with CrystalDiskMark. That is an excellent result. With the ECC/LPDC error correction, even more write and read cycles are possible, resulting in safe storage over a longer period of time.
Usage
The cards are specifically designed for reliable storage of photo and image material up to 4K and data from various devices that accept cards with the following (Ultra High Speed) UHS-I classes: U3, V30, A2, Class 10. They are also especially for use under difficult conditions such as water, high temperatures, magnetic fields, etc. They come with a limited warranty of up to 10 years!
