A large screen with curved edges is the first thing you notice about the long and slim device. The dimensions are 164 x 76 x 9mm with a weight of 220 grams. The selfie camera is slightly recessed on the front screen. The other cameras are located in a striking 55mm circle on the back behind glass. An aluminum frame connects the front with the rear. It has a beautiful, but smooth coverage in chic metallic green with a wavy pattern that does not leave fingerprints. There is a handy slider on the left to quickly switch sound profiles: Quiet, Vibrate or Ringtone. The whole has a high-end and elegant appearance. The protection is IP65 and therefore cannot be submerged under water.

Screen and sound
The 6.8-inch Amoled screen with a maximum resolution of 1440 x 3168 pixels and an adaptive image refresh of up to 120Hz looks fantastic and the display is very smooth. The default brightness is 1600nits and maximum HDR peak brightness is 4500nits! This means we see an (almost) perfect image under all circumstances. HDR images are shown in videos with Dolby Vision and HDR10+, while good sound comes from the stereo speakers on the short sides. An even better experience is obtained via USB-C or Bluetooth with headphones or earphones. Spatial sound is offered via Dolby Atmos, Spatial and Holo Audio.

Processor, memory and battery
The processor used is the Qualcomm SnapDragon Gen3. This test version has a large 16 GB of RAM, 512 GB of data storage and a new cooling system. The battery measures a large 5400 mAh, depending on settings, for up to 2 days of use. The included charger is a 100-watt SuperVooc. This charges the device within half an hour. There are options to extend battery life and battery life. Wireless charging works with 50 Watts. With all this, Opus shows the competition what is possible.

Cameras
The OnePlus 12 uses Hasselblad camera technology and Sony sensors for optimal brightness and colors. The set consists of an F1.6/50MP main camera, an F2.6/64MP periscopic telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom and an F2.2/48MP/114° wide-angle camera. The selfie is F2.4/32MP. Android 14 and the OxygenOS14 shell are installed for the controls. This is a well-functioning, reasonably clean combination with facilities that simplify navigation. Multitasking and floating windows are available. Unlocking the system via the optical fingerprint scanner works well. The OS updates are available for a decent 4 years and the security updates for 5 years.

Conclusion
The OnePlus 12 is a phone with the latest technology that can compete with the top class. The fast charging is unparalleled. People still stick to rounded glass that looks elegant, but which not everyone is a fan of and unfortunately there are few or no useful AI functions available as we were surprised with the Galaxy S24.
