RGNT sets world speed record for electric motorcycle on ice

With world speed records you quickly think of the salt flats near Bonneville or in Chile, and then somewhere in high summer when the conditions are the most favorable, but it is of course also possible in winter on ice and then that is fine in Sweden.

Now every record attempt on ice commands respect, because the conditions are much more difficult and the spikes can cause ugly injuries. On the other hand, the grip is of course ideal. At least, the first run when the ice is still nice and tight.

However, to do that with an electric motor commands even more respect, if only because battery capacity and ice cold are not friends. Anyway, if you were born in Sweden and in 2019 you made the decision to change course and want to become a top player in electric motorcycles, then suddenly it is very obvious.

So this past weekend RGNT took part in the SMA Svenska Motorsport Alliansen approved and licensed Speed Weekend in Årsunda, Sweden, where RGNT engineer Timmy Eriksson set a new world speed record with the RGNT Aurora.

RGNT now officially holds the official record for the Fastest Electric Motorcycle on Ice, with a speed of 155.14 km/h. In addition, RGNT also holds the record for the Fastest Electric A1 Motorcycle on Ice (135.03 km/h) and the Fastest Electric Production Motorcycle on Ice (114.3 km/h).

In case you haven’t heard of RGNT, the brand was founded in 2019 by Swedish entrepreneur Jonathan Åstrom, who, inspired by the new and improved metropolis of Beijing in 2018, explored the desire for quiet streets in the west.

As an experienced motorcyclist, he dreamed of a two-wheeler that would offer the same freedom as a traditional motorcycle, but with the innovation of today’s most advanced cars.

After shocking the market with a beautifully retro-cool-looking prototype, the founder and CEO launched RGNT in 2020, with the ambition for urban commuters to trade in their cars for electric motorcycles.
