Get off the road fast

Wednesday will be a pretty hot day again and Rijkswaterstaat is taking that into account. For example, roadside assistance is made faster.
Rijkswaterstaat will set up a heat protocol from 10 a.m. on Wednesday due to the warm weather. Motorists with breakdowns along the road will then be helped more quickly. According to the KNMI, the temperature can rise to about 33 degrees. Rijkswaterstaat wants to prevent people from standing still for too long in the heat.
The asphalt may feel warmer on Wednesday due to the high temperatures. That is why cars will be taken off the road faster on Wednesday. The traffic service also moves everyone, including stranded drivers who are safely parked along the road, to a gas station or another location with facilities. Travelers on the road are advised to bring a bottle of water and an umbrella against the bright sun.
There is a chance that it will be extra busy for the Wegenwacht because of the heat. That was already the case in August 2020. At that time, there were especially many cars with cooling problems. Incidentally, it was also busy at the time because of many holidaymakers who stayed in the Netherlands.
