Rimac Nevera breaks 23 world records in a straight line

The Rimac Nevera, an electric hypercar from the Croatian company Rimac, is lightning fast. How fast? Well, that turned out to be the end of April. In one day, the sprint gun broke 23 different acceleration and/or deceleration world records for production cars, including the 0 to 400 to 0 km/h – and that took less than 30 seconds. Excuse me?

To create a little bit of context: in 2017 Bugatti set a new 0-400-0 km / h record with its then brand new and 1,500 hp strong Chiron. The car needed just 41.96 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 400 km/h and come to a stop again. Yes, the Bugatti is very strong, but it could all be much faster. Koenigsegg proved this two years later with his Regera, which completed the same job in about 31.5 (!) counts.

Where the Bugatti is a thoroughbred petrol burner and the Koenigsegg a plug-in hybrid, the new king – the Rimac Nevera – is a fully electric car. A lot faster, too, because it was not only the record for the 0-400-0 that was set more than two weeks ago (29.94 seconds). On the same day, the Nevera broke 22 other records, as well as a bonus record: breaking the most performance records in one day.

Tireless

In addition, the records for the 0-100, 0-200, 0-300, 0-400, 100-200, 200-300, the quarter mile, the half mile, the whole mile… you get the idea; all shattered. The Nevera is the new absolute fastest accelerating car. The Croats proudly mention that the car was fully loaded during the entire session, without the technology overheating or starting to deliver less performance. “Any Nevera owner can copy this,” said founder Mate Rimac – now CEO of Bugatti – afterwards. Provided there is a charging station nearby that can charge the car battery from 0 to 80 percent full in about 20 minutes, of course.

The Nevera can devour energy. For this it uses four electric motors, the rear two of which can produce up to 640 hp and 900 Nm of torque – each! Those forces found the asphalt during the record session through Michelin Cup 2 R tires. Curious about how impressive all the figures of the Nevera are? Then take a look at the table below. The performance figures have been recorded and verified by two independent parties, so Rimac’s bluff is excluded.

Rimac Nevera world records

The Nevera set the records at the Papenburg test track in Germany, just across the border from Groningen.
