Batmobile for the track

In the highest regions of supercar land, the extreme exotics, also referred to as hypercars and hardly bound by rules, hold sway. In that absolute niche of the car market, New Zealand-based Rodin Cars has launched a new model: the Fzero.
The Rodin FZero will be a downright bizarre car in which no 1,000 hp electric motor is hung. No, the FZero gets ‘just’ a combustion engine from its creators, although that is a copy with no less than ten cylinders. The FZero has a V10 that is relatively small with a displacement of 4.0 liters. The machine weighs only 132 kilos and is, according to Rodin Cars, the lightest and most compact V10 ever built in terms of dimensions.
Despite those compact dimensions, the ten-cylinder is quite potent. The machine stamps out no less than 1,000 hp and 910 Nm. The rev limiter only kicks in at 10,000 rpm. But it doesn’t stop there, the V10 works together with an electric motor that brings the system power to 1,176 hp and 1,026 Nm. That nearly 1,200 horsepower doesn’t even have to move 700 pounds. Thanks to the frequent use of things like carbon fiber and other lightweight materials, the FZero weighs only 698 kilos. Heavy braking, including carbon-ceramic brake discs and titanium calipers hiding behind the 18-inch OZ wheels, should be able to calm the FZero properly again.
The 5.5 meters long and only 1.13 meters low FZero is not street legal and may not be used on public roads. An ultimate toy for those who already have everything and no longer know where else to save their money. There will be 27 copies of which the first will see the light of day in the summer of 2023.
