Rolls Royce Cullinan

The Rolls-Royce Cullinan has been with us for six years now. Rolls-Royce is fine-tuning its SUV named after the largest diamond ever found and immediately introduces the updated Cullinan Black Badge. The Cullinan was not an inconspicuous appearance, but after its facelift it is even more striking.

The Rolls-Royce Cullinan is a 5.4 meter long exclusive SUV for which you pay an amount that would certainly buy you a small apartment in a remote corner of Amsterdam: around 4.5 tons. The Cullinan was presented in 2018 and has now been renewed. In a quite striking way, even, and that is not entirely Rolls-Royce.

Rolls Royce Cullinan

The Rolls-Royce Cullinan as it came onto the market in 2018.

Almost the entire front of the Cullinan has been modified. The SUV has a new stately fencing as a grille, but the whole is no longer framed on the sides. Just like with the previously updated Phantom. Just like on that top sedan, the grille is now even illuminated. More lighting news: the headlights are new. The actual headlight units are a lot flatter than before and have a new design. The LED daytime running lights are more striking. This again runs at the top of the viewers, but after it runs around the corner of the headlight, it dives deep down through the bumper. Speaking of the bumper: it is also completely new. The vertical cooling slots under the headlights have become clogged. From now on, the other cooling openings are located at the very bottom of the bumper. The external changes at the rear are smaller in nature. Here we mainly see a new rear bumper with new exhaust tips.

The Rolls Royce Cullinan Series II, as the British call it, the brand hopes to appeal to a ‘younger’ target group again. According to Rolls-Royce, the Cullinan has reduced the average age of a Rolls customer from 56 in 2010 to 43 in 2024. This is not entirely due to the Cullinan, but the message is clear. More optical news: the Cullinan will now have new alloy wheels measuring up to 23 inches and Rolls-Royce says it has even redesigned the rear screens. Major, for a facelift.

There is also news in the Cullinan. For example, the ‘middle strip’ of the dashboard – which runs across the entire width – now consists of a glass panel. The infotainment system has been updated, as has the fully digital instrumentation. Furthermore, Rolls-Royce prides itself on being able to choose from many more materials for the design and composition of the interior. The 6.75 V12 is not tinkered with.

Black Badge

What also returns: the Black Badge version. It also has the mighty V12, but a 600 hp and 900 Nm strong one. That makes it almost 30 hp and 50 Nm more powerful than the regular Cullinan. You can recognize the Cullinan Black Badge by its lower cooling openings in the front, which have wider slats than those of the non-Black Badge. The black grille is also a landmark, as are the darker light units. More darkness: the chrome around the side windows is in black and so is the Spirit of Ecstasy on the snout is a lot darker than on the regular specimens. The glazing of the rear lights is also slightly darker, as are the exhaust tips.
