Rolls-Royce shows renewed Spirit of Ecstacy

Rolls-Royce is renewing the more than 111-year-old Spirit of Ecstacy. The Spirit shrinks slightly and is therefore a lot more aerodynamic, according to Rolls-Royce. The slimmed-down logo will make its first appearance on the Spectre, Goodwood’s first all-electric production model.

The electric Rolls-Royce Specter is currently undergoing final testing leading up to its market launch in 2023. The Spirit of Ecstacy that will grace the Specter’s nose has been put on a diet. The figurine spent 830 hours in the wind tunnel to become more aerodynamic. She shrank from 100.01mm to 82.73mm and stands further forward, with her feet behind each other instead of side by side. The ‘wings’ of the Spirit also have a different shape. According to Rolls-Royce, the new logo thus contributes to the low cW value of the Specter prototypes. That is because it comes out at 0.26.

Rolls-Royce introduces the updated version of the logo after the Specter on all future Rolls-Royce models. For the existing Rolls-Royces, the Phantom, Ghost, Wraith, Dawn and Cullinan, Rolls-Royce still uses the existing version of the figurine.
