It is a public secret that a two -cylinder Himalayan is coming at Royal Enfield, the engine has already been spotted during test work, but the British/Indian company has now put images on social media from the bicycle, along with a prototype of the electric Himalayan.
In addition to Enfield’s CEO B. Govindarajan, Mark Wells was also testing in the test team that was testing in the mountainous Ladakh in northern India. The CEO rode on the soon expected new two -cylinder Himalayan, while Wells rode on the electric prototype.
According to rumors in India, the Himalayan will be the first model of a new 750cc Paralleltwin family, the block of which is based on the existing air -cooled design of 648cc with 48 hp, but with a larger cylinder capacity for more power and torque. And, however, there are also rumors that the two-cylinder Himalayan is still driven by the 650-twin, before the new 750-twin debuts in a new Continental GT.
The latter is based on a product planning from 2022, where a pedigree of upcoming models was shown. In the graph, the Silhouette of the Himalayan Twin stood next to other Twin that had not yet been shown at that time, including the Bear 650 Scrambler, while the Continental GT Café Racer was shown as a further development, which suggested that it would have more substantial differences.
Recent espionage photos of the café racer show that extra sensors and cables have been attached to the engine during tests, which suggests that it differs substantially from the existing design, while prototypes of the Himalayan Twin strikingly do not have any data logging equipment, which may indicate that the block is the existing 650.
Apart from the fact whether it is the 650 or 750 Twin, the block is in a frame that does not resemble that of the other Twins at all. Road Double Achterhocks and Retro design, Hello Modern Frame with aluminum swingern bridge and Monoshock rear spring and an upside down fork at the front. The styling also looks a lot more modern.
Although the recent test by Royal Enfield took place in the mountains, on unpaved roads, the Himalayan Twin is not a hardcore off -road. The spoke wheels are 19 inches in front and 17 inches behind, equipped with dualpurph tires, which suggests that the engine is positioned as a street -oriented Adventure model. With more hardcore off -road cycling you see wheels in sizes 21 “in the front and 18” behind. The double brake discs for fit better in the image of a ‘street allroad’, just like the low front fender.
