Royal Enfield launched the Classic 650 at the EIMCA in Milan. The Classic 650 is an enlarged version of the typical Classic silhouette from the past, but with double the character, double the craftsmanship and double the charm.
The Classic has served as the basis for many Royal Enfield models over the years. He always stood for the rich tradition and inspiration that characterizes Royal Enfield’s style. The Classic 650 is no exception. It continues this tradition and is built with the well-known, characteristic style elements that connect it with its predecessors. The Classic 650 has the signature ‘frame bracket’ that links it to all previous models, from the OG Classic to the Thunderbird and the more recent Super Meteor and Shotgun. But that’s where the similarities end.
The Classic 650, the fifth model of the 650 parallel twin platform, has been designed with great attention to detail. With its flowing lines, characteristic styling elements and luxurious details that exude class and authenticity, it embodies the spirit behind Royal Enfield’s rich history. The motorcycle has a beautifully designed fuel tank, round vintage headlights and elegant round fenders that pay tribute to the history of the Classic.
The beating heart of the Classic 650 is the 648cc parallel twin that has been praised since its launch in 2018, good for a top power of 47 hp and 52 Nm of torque, more than enough to make the wind blow through your hair. The way the torque is spread across the board is almost unprecedented for a parallel twin, as is the absence of vibration. Very nice.
As far as the bicycle part is concerned, the Classic 650 is somewhere between the Super Meteor and Shotgun, what sets it apart are the wheel sizes of 19″ at the front and 18″ at the rear. The Classic 650 comes standard with a pillion seat, but this can easily be removed together with the luggage rack via a screw mechanism.
With its brightly polished aluminium-chrome finish on the headlight and indicators, the Classic 650 still looks exactly like typical post-war British motorcycles. The flowing lines running from the front to the back accentuate the visual harmony. The motorcycle has the striking teardrop-shaped fuel tank and the characteristic Royal Enfield headlight housing, with a new LED headlight and the typical ‘tiger lights’, or pilot lights. These have been standard on all Royal Enfield models since 1954.
The instrument cluster is minimalist, with a digital LCD screen with odometer, trip meter, fuel gauge, service reminder, gear indicator and clock. Original motorcycle accessories are available in the Classic and Classic Tourer themes.
The colorways of the Royal Enfield Classic 650 are reminiscent of the much-loved finishes of the Classic 500, but give a fresh new twist to tradition. Vallam Red, Teal and Black Chrome beautifully accentuate the motorcycle’s elegant, flowing lines and classic shapes.
