RUF Bergmeister is a lightweight Porsche Speedster

The Porsche adepts of the always high-profile RUF have presented a very special new prototype in the form of the Bergmeister. The RUF Bergmeister is a heavily built open Porsche 911 of the 993 generation.

The open colossus in these photos is officially called Project RBS, although the Porsche fanatics of RUF also call the car Bergmeister. The RUF Bergmeister pays tribute to, among other things, the Porsche 909 Bergspyder, an open racer with which Porsche participated in hill-climbing races. Just like the 909 Bergspyder, the RUF Bergmeister is an open two-seater that comes in white and green, but we’ve actually had the similarities with that.

The RUF Bergmeister is based on the Porsche 911 of the 993 generation, the last series of water-cooled 911s. RUF has transformed the 911 into a speedster, complete with a low windshield and a high aft deck. As with the 909 Bergspyder to which the car refers, there is no conventional rear bumper at the bottom of the rear.

RUF gives the Bergmeister modern LED headlights and hides the door handles, among other things. In the back is a blown 3.6 six-cylinder boxer engine that generates 450 hp and 600 Nm. That 450 hp goes through a manual six-speed gearbox to the rear axle. RUF gives its creation a limited slip differential, dry sumplubrication, a multi-link rear suspension and 19-inch alloy wheels that conceal modern braking. ABS? From the party. To keep the weight as low as possible, the entire body is made of carbon fiber.

It is not entirely clear what RUF’s plans for the Bergmeister are, but it is certainly a special model.
