800 hp or pure sensation?
RUF presents not one, but two special newcomers. The CTR3Evo is the evolution of the CTR3 that we have known for so long from this special company and the RUF RSpyder a very open 911-like.
We have known RUF for decades as a company that rebuilds Porsches, but is also capable of much more. The CTR3, for example, is an obvious and visible supercar based largely on Porsche parts, but at the same time not a car based one-on-one on an existing Porsche model. The Boxster and Cayman are the most common in the design, but the RUF is longer, lower and wider and above all much faster.
The RUF CTR3 Clubsport as it is now on the RUF site has been running for a while. You can see that, for example in the 991-like nose and the taillights, which seem to come from a second-generation Boxster. With the CTR3 Evo comes a worthy sequel. The basic shape of the CTR3 is retained, but with a straightened nose and a unique rear, the model looks fresh again. That ass, with its four round taillights, is more Ferrari-like than Porsche-like.
For the time being, we have to make do with photos and information shared via Instagram with both cars, so don’t count on too extensive specifications. However, the RUF CTR3 Evo has as usual a – how could it be otherwise – six-cylinder boxer engine. Thanks to two turbos, the 3.8-liter produces no less than 800 hp at 7,100 rpm, and an immense torque of about 990 (!) Nm.
RUF RSpyder
With the second newcomer, the RUF RSpyder (or R Spyder), we don’t have those kinds of figures at all yet. Presumably this car is considerably less powerful, because it seems to be more about an extremely pure driving experience than pure performance. This is evident, for example, from the fact that there is a turboless, 4.0-liter boxer engine on board here. Presumably the power source from the Porsche 991 Speedster from a few years ago, because this RSpyder is clearly based on that. The big difference: in the RUF you are even more open. The windshield has been replaced by a Plexiglas screen a few centimeters high, split into two parts. It has to be, because RUF splits the passenger compartment in two with a kind of bridge that allows the yellow stripe over the car to run uninterrupted. Nice detail is the stopwatch of the Sport Chrono Package, which is located in the middle of the dashboard and now ends on top of the beginning of that ‘bridge’.
