The Porsche devotees of the always talked-about Ruf have presented a very special 911. We welcome: the Rodeo Concept.
The German Ruf Automobile GmbH has over the years presented a large number of heavily modified Porsche models. The famous CTR ‘Yellowbird’ from 1987 is perhaps the best known example of this. Ruf not only bases its models on 911s, but also the Cayman, Boxster and Cayenne have been heavily modified by the Porsche adepts. The newcomer that the manufacturer has now presented is a car designed in a special way that primarily claims to be a 911.
The Rodeo Concept shares its basis with the SCR 2018 and the current homage to the CTR Yellowbird. That means that this Rodeo Concept also has a carriage that has strong similarities with that of the Porsche 911 (964), but that the complete base was developed by Ruf. Ruf has folded a carbon fiber-drawn coach over a monocoque constructed from the same lightweight material. The company says nothing further about the driveline of this Rodeo Concept, but it is likely that it is the same 510 hp 4.0-liter six-cylinder boxer engine that drives the aforementioned SCR. Unlike the SCR, this Rodeo Concept has no four-wheel drive, but rear-wheel drive.
The Rodeo Concept is on off-road tires, has an undercarriage geared to adventures alongside the beaten track and a carriage in two colors. It is decorated with extra lighting, leather straps at the front cover and a bullbar around which a rope is wrapped. On top of the Rodeo Concept we find a large roof rack and the interior is decorated with brown leather. The name ‘Rodeo’ is a reference to the Rodeo Drive Concours d’Elegance, an event that takes place annually in Bevery Hills.
