Rumor: New ‘iMac Pro’ coming in 2022 and has a 27-inch screen

Apple will launch a new 27-inch iMac in early 2022, called the iMac Pro. That’s what a famous person claims. The desktop computer would run on M1 Pro and M1 Max chips, just like the current MacBook Pro.

iMac Pro 2022 will get the same chips as MacBook Pro

Apple will give the large iMac a new look at the beginning of 2022 and give the device the name ‘iMac Pro’. That’s what the delicious says Dylan, which is more likely to share accurate information about Apple’s computers. Although there were rumors that the new iMac would have a 30 or 32-inch display, the company is sticking to a 27-inch screen, according to the tweeter. On the inside we find M1 Pro and M1 Max chips, which are also in the MacBook Pro 2021.

Since last year, Apple has been working on equipping all its computers with its own M1 processors. Previously, the MacBook Air and the 24-inch iMac switched to these chips, among others. They are faster and more economical than the alternatives from Intel. This week, the old 21.5-inch iMac with Intel processor was even completely removed from the range.

The ‘small’ iMac with M1 chip

The name ‘iMac Pro’ is striking because this computer disappeared from the range earlier this year. We think that this way Apple wants to distinguish between the smaller consumer model and the large variant, which is aimed at professionals. So there will probably be no ‘normal’ iMac 2022 with a 27-inch screen. Dylan does warn, however, that the name may still change.

Will the iMac Pro 2022 get Face ID?

According to Dylan, the iMac Pro 2022 will have a mini LED screen with ProMotion, which makes the image look very smooth. The new MacBook Pro also has such a display. In addition, Apple provides the base model with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. The design should resemble that of the 24-inch iMac, but with dark bezels. The machine gets USB-C connections, but also an HDMI port and SD card reader. The cheapest variant would cost at least $ 2000.

Apple is also testing a prototype with Face ID. With that, you should be able to unlock your iMac just by looking at it. Whether the computer will really have facial recognition will become clear later. The new MacBook Pro has to do without this technology. There is a fingerprint scanner in the keyboard.

Apple is expected to release the iMac Pro in the first quarter of 2022. When we get more know, you can of course read it directly on iPhoned. Sign up for our newsletter or download the free app not to miss anything. Also follow us on Facebook and Instagram.
