The iPhone 16 will have the following new features
We have collected all the rumors that have been circulating so far for you. It turns out that (coincidentally or not) the iPhone 16 will have no fewer than 16 new features. We have listed the most important ones for you.
Bigger screen
The iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max are expected to have a larger screen, 6.27 inches and 6.85 inches respectively (for comparison, the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max have screens of 6.1 and 6.7 inches respectively) .
Vertical camera layout
The standard iPhone 16 models will likely have a vertical camera layout, similar to that of the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 mini. It’s not entirely clear why Apple is returning to this layout. Possibly because it enables the devices to record Spatial Video for the Apple Vision Pro.
A new button
Another new iPhone 16 feature is likely a new button below the lock button on the right. It is still unclear what the button is for, Apple apparently calls the button the ‘Capture Button’.
Support for WiFi 7
The Pro models of the iPhone 16 are expected to come with Wi-Fi 7 support, allowing data transfer over 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz and 6 GHz bands simultaneously. This should ensure higher speeds and more reliable connections.
5x optical zoom
Both Pro models of the iPhone 16 will probably have a 5x optical zoom, something that is still reserved for the Pro Max on the iPhone 15.
iPhone 16 Ultra
Apple may introduce a high-end iPhone 16 Ultra alongside the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max. The device could have additional camera improvements, a larger display and perhaps even a design without a physical connection.
Other iPhone 16 features
In addition to these six iPhone 16 features, ten more are rumored to be coming. We mention these below for completeness. We will only know whether these predictions are correct until after next summer.
- The Pro models get an improved 48-megapixel ultra wide-angle lens;
- Improved optical zoom lens for the Pro models;
- The iPhone 16 will probably get the new generation A18 Pro chip;
- 5G Advanced support for the Pro models;
- The Pro models only get solid state buttons that you can’t press;
- The iPhone 16 OLED screens use a lighter microlens technology;
- The iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus are expected to have an A17 chip;
- The iPhone 16 models may receive exclusive AI features;
- The Pro models use stacked battery technology for a longer battery life.
- The action button is extended to the standard iPhone 16 models;
