Sales of new motorhomes reached an absolute milestone in November. It is the first time ever that the annual new sales of motorhomes exceed the limit of 3,000 copies, according to figures from Bovag and RDC.
With the establishment of that milestone, the upward trend in motorhome sales seems unstoppable. The first three quarters of this year were already good for a record and the motorhome sales were also able to record a significant plus in October. November can proudly add itself to that list: last month 108 motorhomes were registered, almost half more than the same month in 2020. With that sales number, annual sales in the first eleven months amount to 3,029 new motorhomes. The five best-selling brands are Adria, Hymer, Capron (manufacturer of Carthago and Sunlight), Knaus and Carthago. They account for a joint market share of 46 percent.
November was not a particularly good month for the new caravans with 189 units. The number of registrations is therefore 10 percent lower than in 2020. Viewed over the whole year, however, the caravan trade cannot complain, because the sales total over the first 11 months with 8,422 copies is still 23 percent higher than last year. Hobby and Fendt are the most popular brands with a combined market share of 36 percent. Behind that, Knaus (13 percent), Dethleffs (9 percent) and Eriba-Hymer (7 percent) complete the top list.
Occasions
Compared to 2020, the market for used motorhomes is also doing well. The specialist trade sold 16,079 used cars in the first eleven months of 2021, 17 percent more than the same period last year. Sales of used caravans rose by five percent in total to 15,201 units.
