Samsung has already released the July security update. Google has yet to update its Pixel 6 phones. If you have a Samsung, you can expect a security update from now on.
Samsung Galaxy S22 receives security update from July
Samsung is now rolling out the July security update for the Samsung Galaxy S22, the Samsung Galaxy S22 Plus and the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra. Multiple Androidworld readers report this via our email address for tips. In the coming days, other Galaxy phones will also receive this update.
Google was supposed to release this update last Monday, but because it’s a holiday in the United States, we don’t expect it until today. We therefore know exactly which security problems have been addressed. Samsung will therefore communicate this via a Security Bulletin†
The update is approximately 400 MB in size and, in addition to the July patch, also includes the well-known performance improvements and stabilization improvements. The update also updates a number of Samsung apps to the latest version. If you don’t see a notification on your phone yet, you can manually check for the update. To do this, go to: Settings -> Software Update -> Download and Install.
For many, a security update may not be as exciting as a regular update. However, it is a good way to ensure that your phone is properly secured. Hackers regularly find weaknesses in phones and a security update ensures that hackers don’t get the chance to take advantage of them. That is why it is important to continue to provide your phone with these updates.
