Samsung is going to expand its interface one onion to household appliances. From September, smart refrigerators, washing machines and air conditioners will receive an update that matches the operation with those of Galaxy smartphones and tablets.
According to the company, the devices must therefore become easier to use and better integrate with the SmartThings app. Users get access to functions such as NOW letter, a screen that shows information such as weather, agendas and remaining programs. Apps such as Bixby and Samsung TV Plus are also added.
Updates
Samsung says that devices that have been released with WiFi since 2024 will receive software and security updates for seven years. The security is expanded with Knox Matrix, where devices check each other’s status and users get insight into their safety via a dashboard.
New functions
The update also brings new smart functions, such as improved product recognition in refrigerators with cameras and speech recognition per family member via Bixby Voice ID. With the expansion, Samsung wants to make its ecosystem of devices more uniform and distinguish itself from competitors in the market for smart domestic technology.
