Agreements
1. Same chipset
All three phones are powered by Samsung’s new high-end chipset, the Exynos 2200. This chipset works for the first time with a GPU that was developed together with chipmaker AMD. This GPU and two new techniques known from PC gaming should bring PC graphics to phones. The Galaxy S22 series gets the scoop and will have to attract gamers who want to play without lag on their smartphone.
2. Same software
Samsung’s One UI 4.0 software shell is based on Android 12. In this software shell you can adjust the look and functionality of your smartphone in countless ways. You have access to tools to set the home screen, icons, notifications, wallpapers and many more functions to your taste. You can also adjust the design of widgets: from visibility to appearance. Samsung continues with its own take on the design changes of Google’s Material You and adopts Google’s new privacy features.
Samsung is now busy providing its phones with this update, but the next version is already around the corner. That is namely One UI 4.1, the latest version that all phones in the Galaxy S22 series are equipped with.
3. Same housing
The Samsung Galaxy S21 got a plastic back last year and the S21 Plus and S21 Ultra were equipped with a glass back (Gorilla Glass Victus). This year, all phones in the Galaxy S22 series will have a Gorilla Glass Victus housing. The front is reinforced with Gorilla Glass Victus+ and the back with Gorilla Glass Victus. The frame of the phones is aluminum and all phones have IP68 certification. The phones can therefore withstand a splash of water. In other words, half an hour underwater, at a depth of one and a half meters.

Differences
1. Different sizes
As you can see in the table, the Galaxy S22 with its 6.1 inch screen is the smallest phone of the three and therefore a compact alternative to the other two flagships. The rest of the screens are largely the same. They have the same variable refresh rate and touch sampling rate. The higher refresh rate ensures that the images on the screen flow into each other more smoothly and the Touch Sampling Rate ensures better registration of touches on the screen. The resolution does differ, because Samsung, as usual, gives the Galaxy S22 Ultra the highest screen resolution. This makes this phone the largest and heaviest of the three. The S22 and S22 Plus are a lot lighter.
2. Different batteries
The Galaxy S22 is the smallest of the trio and the S22 Ultra the largest, with the S22 Plus in between. This also results in different battery sizes. The capacity with which the batteries can be charged quickly and wirelessly also differs. The S22 supports 25W fast charging and the S22 Plus and S22 Ultra come with 45W fast charging.
3. Different cameras
Samsung has copied the camera module in the Galaxy S22 one-to-one to the Galaxy S22 Plus. Only the S22 Ultra is the exception, because it again comes with two telephoto cameras and a 108 megapixel wide-angle camera.

4. Differences in details
The Galaxy S22 Plus and Galaxy S22 Ultra have support for ultra wideband (UWB). This means that they can estimate your location to within a few centimeters. It works like bluetooth, but better. Samsung wants to use the ultra-wideband technology in these phones to unlock cars, which also support the technology, when you get close to them. Both phones also have support for Wifi 6E. So they can get faster speeds on a Wi-Fi network that also supports it.
5. The biggest difference
The biggest difference between the three musketeers is the design. As the avalanche of rumors already predicted, Samsung has put the Galaxy S22 Ultra in a Galaxy Note jacket. Not only is the S Pen included with the Ultra model, the S Pen also gets a place in the housing of the S22 Ultra. The phone also inherits all the features of the Note, such as the angular design and the arrangement of the cameras. Only now there is no longer a camera island, but we see the lenses coming out of the housing.

The choice is yours
As you can see, we have listed all the similarities and differences for you in a nice overview. The Samsung Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22 Plus and Galaxy S22 Ultra differ from each other on quite a number of points and that makes the choice a lot easier for one, but also a lot more difficult for the other. In particular, the compactness of the S22 will attract many people, but the Galaxy Note features of the S22 Ultra also have its advantages. This flagship comes with an S Pen, but is also a lot more expensive to purchase.
So the choice is yours. Are you going for the best of the best in the S22 series? Then the Ultra is an option. Would you rather spend a little less? Then you also get top phones with the Galaxy S22 or S22 Plus. More details about the Galaxy S22 phones can be found here.
