‘Samsung Galaxy S23 series still runs on Exynos processor’

According to a rumor from the well-known rumor spreader Ice Universe, the European variant of the Samsung Galaxy S23, S23+ and the S23 Ultra will again run on an Exynos processor. This is despite the earlier news that Samsung would have decided to use Qualcomm’s latest high-end processor.

Exynos processor

Samsung has been choosing to market its Samsung Galaxy S series in multiple processor variants for a number of years now. The US market often gets the Galaxy S series with Qualcomm’s high-end chipset. Europe and Asia will have to make do with the variant that has the Exynos processor. This chipset is made by Samsung itself, but unfortunately it is invariably slightly slower than the Qualcomm variant.

Especially because it was previously rumored that Samsung would have decided to provide all variants of the S23 series with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset. According to Ice Universe, a well-known spreader of rumours, turns out not to be true. According to him, the bosses of Samsung Electronics are not happy with the decision, and they also want an S23 variant with the Exynos processor on the market. Europe seems to be the market for this.

Less fast

In terms of sheer speed, the Exynos processor has been scoring less well than Qualcomm’s high-end processor for a number of years. Last year, Samsung came close in terms of performance and peak speed, but the Exynos 2200 chip managed to maintain this speed for much less than the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. This resulted in the S series being faster in America than the one we got here in Europe. In addition, the image processing of the Qualcomm processors is often better compared to that of the Exynos. So it would be a shame if the news turns out to be true. In any case, we will keep an eye on it and as soon as we know more we will of course get back to you.

Two years ago, a petition was also signed in which Samsung users called on the company to stop using an Exynos chipset in its phones. Samsung does use Qualcomm chipsets in Europe in its foldable Galaxy Z phones and in the Galaxy Tab S8 series.

What would you think if the S23 series would run on an Exynos processor again? Let me know in the comments.
