‘Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 will not get a ‘classic’ variant’

Android operating system Wear OS 3 has not been out for very long and there is only one smartwatch that uses this operating system: Samsung Galaxy Watch 4. However, a successor is in development and it appears to be turning it around completely: according to rumors namely a Wear OS skin instead of the ‘Classic’ design.

Rotating ring

SamMobile writes that Samsung is throwing its rotating bezel in the trash and going for a more standard smartwatch design. Too bad, because many people could appreciate that the Korean tech company went for the typical watch look. It also lasted quite a long time, but now after all these years it plans to stop.

It already did that in small form on Galaxy Watch Active and its successor, followed by a ‘classic’ design on Galaxy Watch 4, but now it looks like that rotating bezel is going to be completely gone. If it does, it will likely only be in the more expensive Pro watch in development.

Samsung Galaxy Watch 5

There is a good chance that Samsung will come up with two smartwatches later this year: the regular Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 and the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 Pro. Plus, the Watch 5 will likely come in two sizes, although the Pro will likely stick to one size option. The size of the clock often only differs by a few millimeters, but especially if you have a somewhat thinner wrist, then that makes a huge difference in wearing comfort and in how the smart watch looks on your arm.

Perhaps a rotating edge will be missing soon, but there will be something else new, namely a renewed Wear OS 3 skin. What that exactly means is unknown. No world-changing adaptation is expected, because it is probably due to the lack of that rotating edge on the gadget.

Do you think it’s important, such a rotating ring, or are you okay with Samsung wanting to ban it? Leave it in the comments below this article.
